BURGLARY ARREST: DNA Helps Catch Suspect | News
Pleasant Hill police arrested a man Tuesday night, accused of burglarizing a Newton home back in April.
Fifty-seven-year-old Steven Voshell is in the Jasper County charged with first degree burglary.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, two Newton homeowners came home to find a man burglarizing their property on April 13th. A struggle happened between one of the residents and the suspect, but he was able to get away before police got there.
In September, with the help of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Voshell was identified using DNA evidence and an arrest warrant was issued.
Tuesday, he was taken into custody by Pleasant Hill police and transferred to the Jasper County Jail.
